Announcement is expected at 630 tonight after a conference call today. This also includes Hockey. The Ivy League was the first to cancel play in the Spring. Not a good sign at all.

No big deal. It's competition level is equivalent to club sports at most other universities...

Just more "virtue signaling", except it's really pussification signaling. No NFL or NBA
scouts need to alter their schedules over this.

The difference now, is the frequent testing with more knowledge of the virus. Large conferences with basketball Blue Bloods will do everything they can to play, without fans if need be. These athletic programs NEED the TV money to survive. They will attempt to play a season, just like football has.

Yeah, you guys are right, I completely forgot about hockey. As A Michigander I oughta be lynched
for such an overthought....But I've never had any interest in that sport.

It's not a huge moneymaker, that's why you were right to forget. Ivy League hockey is a very regionalized sport. They get very little if any national TV revenue. That's where the big money is.

It's not a HUGE financial hit for the Ivy League to cancel all sports like it is most big time college athletic programs. That includes hockey.

Guess you dont realize how much money they actually get. This is a huge blow to those Schools. Yale is already on life support as it is.

Is it Yale, or Harvard....that has a $41 Billion dollar endowment? One or the other....

I cannot believe ANY major U. S. university is in serious financial trouble over this
nonsense, over-hyped old-people epidemic.

I guess I don't. Tell me how much TV revenue Yale hockey gets per year. In addition, how much revenue the entire hockey program generates per year. Vs the cost of actually running the program all year.

Would be interested to hear. Thanks.

Oh you couldn't be more wrong. Tons of programs everywhere are being cut, permanently. Coaches are taking huge pay cuts. Etc.

If some of these schools didn't get football going when they did, they were in BIG trouble. Some of these schools have HUGE athletic budgets. And a monster part of financing that is football. Football TV and gate revenue is the lifeblood to many D1 athletic programs.

Yale has been trying to raise money for months just to pay the salaries. No one realizes how much Northeastern Universities rely of foreign students. They were the first to sell out to China and India because they pay 3 times what a US kid pays. Right now kids in CT can go to Maine for half what an in state tuition at Uconn is because all the International students. Its brutal. Take away Sports $$$$$ and its dangerous ground. I mean everyone knows why they are playing College Football right now. Im just glad all the College athletes are recovering. We know it will only take 1 death to close it all down.

They're still not playing football, everyone else is

Those schools with billions of dollars in their endowment funds play by different rules in the financial arena

They don't need the money

How could a temporary loss of athletic revenues put a school like Yale with a $31 billion endowment fund on life support? The insignificant deficit created by this pandemic should easily covered by a relatively minor amount allocated for this emergency.

Well Willie if they dont play Hockey then I lose a paycheck. People are greatly affected by these decisions. If Hockey East and ECAC follow the same route then its detrimental to a lot of people including the students. Cornell will not be playing who is the #1 team in the Country. Harvard is Top 5 and Yale is top 10. You know how many drafted players play for these teams that are now screwed? This is a HUGE Hockey conference. I was told yesterday that I will not be allowed in any Hockey East arena to start the season as a Scout/Media and they will look at it again after Jan 1st. That is just craziness.
